As the title states, CSS Illustrated has gone the way of the rotary telephone. It started out as a fun experiment/distraction based on the illustration trend I noticed in CSS design. During the course of a little more than a year running the site, I found myself wanting to do more with it than just share illustrated websites. I wanted CSS Illustrated to be more than just another CSS gallery, but the name of the site really didn't allow for the metamorphosis I had in mind.
Alas Poor Sancho I Knew Him Well
I wasn't about to give up on the idea behind CSS Illustrated but I also didn't want to manage two sites dedicated to illustration, so something had to give. It was time for a name change, new logo and new design. Sorry Sancho the Chameleon, Vaya con Dios my little friend.
Out of the Ashes
Say goodbye to CSS Illustrated and hello to Illustration Toolbox. In addition to still being a gallery dedicated exclusively to illustrated websites, Illustration Toolbox will also showcase illustration art (digital and traditional).
Now here comes the crux of the reasoning behind the change. Illustration Toolbox will also house articles, news, reviews and tutorials all relevant to illustration. And I might even make a few goodies available for download once in a while as well. Who knows, the point is I can now take this site in a broader direction and explore illustration even further.
Previously Posted Submissions
As you can see, there were quite a few changes made during the process of the transformation. As a result, not all posts from CSS Illustrated made it through. If your previously posted site was lost in the shuffle and you would like to have it reconsidered for inclusion on Illustration Toolbox, please feel free to resubmit.
